Byrd Tapes Recording Contest Judge Announcement: Gena Johnson

Today, we are absolutely thrilled to announce our first judge for the Byrd Tapes Recording Contest, Vol 1:

Gena Johnson!!

The text I received from Gena when I reached out to her to be a judge says it all:

“I’m so in! I think this is a brilliant idea and as a lover of unconventional recordings I can’t wait to hear what people come up with!”

Gena is a Nashville-based, multiple Grammy-winning producer, recording and mix engineer, but most importantly she’s a very kind human being!! I met Gena a few years ago after I sold her a Shure Unidyne mic and I couldn’t be more grateful I did. She rocks.

We are stoked to have her and her ears on board to help select our lucky winners at the end of the contest!!
